And THIS Is Where The Story / P-R-O-B-L-E-M Begins

You see, I have very busy schedule teaching limited people and my priority is developing my Instructor and representative for my system to be always above the standard of excellent. Almost every month, I end some part of the world, teaching this Art of Black Flag Wing Chun to some instructors.

Why is this a problem you ask?

Well it’s like this… When I always want to make myself available and have the opportunity to create a very very exclusive annual training once a year, and not to limit it to only Instructors. I want the normal students, even from Orientation Program rank to be eligible to participate. The problem is sometime there are  some people who just want to be here as a client.

So, here is the rules I made for anyone to be able to attend this event;
Anyone who are NOT a REAL Kung Fu Enthusiastic who aren’t willing to push ALL their CHIPS [Commitment] to the center of the table, Don’t waste my time.

I know there will be many people WHO REALLY EAGER to come to this event from all across the country and overseas, NO DOUBT, the room will be full !!

But, the only Way I am going to proceed with this Summer Camp,
I’d rather to do this with a half empty-room full of KILLERS [Kung Fu Enthusiastic]
Rather than a full room of excuse making people when it comes to training Kung Fu.

This Is Your ONE Opportunity To Have A
100% REAL “KUNG FU”

“Installed” Inside Your BraiN

TRUTH. If I lost my entire empire.  EVERY penny. Every car. Every house.  EVERY DIME.  The ONLY skill I would need to get it ALL back times TEN is my Kung Fu Skills because it covers every aspect of life [WAY OF LIFE].

WARNING: Read Carefully…

If YOU Are On This List…

You Are NOT Invited… Stay Home

Look, I probably don’t have to tell you this but just to be sure its crystal clear to all the average student.  EVERYONE is welcome to attend my HKB MEMBERS ONLY International Summer Camp event…. But there are people who I’ve permanently cut my rope from who might see this letter who can FORGET getting in, no matter how much you’re willing to pay…

  • non 3% percenters
  • phonies
  • thieves
  • time waster
  • leetches
  • blood suckers
  • energy drainers
  • liars
  • cheats
  • Excuse Making
  • Lazy students
  • Un-loyal
  • etc

They know who they are and they couldn’t pay me to attend this event.  We do things BIG around here and are ALL INCLUSIVE I never refuse help to someone who’s willing to do the work.  But for the people listed above… I wouldn’t want (or let) them have any access to this Rare event.

So let me ask you a question.

This is Your MOMENT….
Define The Moment, Don’t Let the Moment DEFINE YOU!
WHERE DO YOU STAND?

Rise and Rebirth of HKB

Date       :  November 17, 2011  09:01 AM  Eastern Time.
Subject : Rise and Rebirth of HKB:

The Official Shaolin HKB Martial Arts Program

There has been tremendous success in spreading the Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun system in the United States, Europe, South America, Middle East, and Asia.  Due to the rapid worldwide demand for our teachings and the success of now having representatives in multiple countries on four continents, we are proud to announce our new improved international program, Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System[1].

Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System is the realization of Sifu Lin’s training methods that have been perfected over the last two years.  These innovations in training have been proven by Sifu Lin in his training of students and development of instructors worldwide.  The Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System program has been piloted over the last year.  This program allows all students and Instructor Candidates to achieve basic skills within six months.  All videos and materials published thus far have shown only these basic skill sets.

Sifu Lin is in the final stage of preparation for the official unveiling of Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System  to the public.  The official release will begin in early 2012; once the Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun elders (Grandmasters) give their blessings to Sifu Lin as founder and Grandmaster of Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System .

Grand Master Lin has worked tirelessly to promote the HKB system since coming to the US, and has gone into overdrive since becoming a full-time, professional martial artist in 2009. Through his ceaseless efforts, he has assembled a core team of leaders and supporters that are well-trained, motivated, and capable of facing the challenges of teaching an ancient tradition to the highest levels of quality and the deepest realms of knowledge in the 21st century without sacrificing quality.

The Shaolin Hek Ki Boen System will be exclusively offered through the new official Shaolin HKB organization [www.ShaolinHKB.com].  Those students and Instructors enrolled in the current HKB Eng Chun system will be allowed to either finish the system, or be converted over to the new improved Shaolin HKB system.

Due to various politics [2], we do not want to be associated with Wing Chun as an organization any longer. Our stance that Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun is Wing Chun has not wavered.

Shaolin HKB System  is the latest proven training methodology created by GM Lin, and the Shaolin HKB organization will put politics aside once and for all.  The focus of the Shaolin HKB organization will be solely on improving students and Instructors character and martial arts skills and engine, regardless of lineage or background.

Sincerely,

Sifu Kenneth Lin Xiang Fuk.

History HKB Kuntao System

History of HKB Kuntao System

HKB Kuntao was created by GM Lin Xiang Fuk in 2011, based on of Sifu Lin’s training methods that have been perfected over the last years. These innovations in training have been proven by Sifu Lin in his training of students and development of instructors worldwide. The Hek Ki Boen Kuntao Concepts program has been piloted over the last years. This program allows all students and Instructor Candidates to achieve basic skills within six months. All videos and materials published thus far have shown only these basic skill sets. HKB Kuntao Concepts is the latest proven training methodology created by GM Lin, and the HKB Kuntao organization will put politics aside once and for all. The focus of the HKB Kuntao organization will be solely on improving students and Instructors martial arts skills and engine, regardless of lineage or background.Ancestor of HKB Kuntao would be based on previous program, called HKB Eng Chun / Black Flag Wing Chun [In Indonesia, known as Hok Kian Eng Chun Kun Tao / Hok Kian Eng Chun Kok Sut Jia - Fukien Wing Chun Kungfu Family]. In the Rebirth of HKB, into HKB Kuntao, even though HKB Kuntao is definetely Wing Chun, we do not want to be associated with Wing Chun as an organization any longer, Due to various politics.

History HKB Eng Chun / Black Flag Wing Chun System

[Also known as Hok Kian Eng Chun Kok Sut Jia / Hokian Eng Chun Kuntao]
[As told by GM Tio Tek Kwie, during the interview]

The Burning of Southern Shaolin Temple in Fukien, China.

The creation of the Eng Chun [ Wing Chun] was due to the invasion and overthrow of the Beng [Ming] by the Cheng [Qing] in 1644. The Beng [Ming] Loyalists regrouped and began to formalize plans to fight back against the Cheng [Qing] invasion. There were warriors from the military, the martial arts community, and fighting monks willing to put their lives on the line in support of the Beng [Ming] Dynasty. One of the strongholds used by these groups was the Southern Shaolin Temple in Fukien Province that serve as refugee center for Beng [Ming] royalist. The Southern Shaolin Temple became a main base used by members of the Anti-Cheng [Anti-Qing] movement.

Many warriors including professional soldiers, warrior monks, and civilian martial artists exchanged information and practiced together for the purpose of overthrowing the Cheng [Qing] Dynasty. Through their combined efforts they developed a new hybrid system as the essence of all advanced styles. The place they used to discuss the new hybrid system was called Eng Chun Tim (Weng Chun Dim), which meant “Hall of Forever Spring” inside the Southern Shaolin Temple in Fukien. Their purpose was for the new system to be taught to secret rebellion warriors to overthrow the Cheng [Qing] Dynasty and preserve the depth of wisdom and knowledge within the Shaolin Temples.

There were traitors inside or near the Shaolin temple in Fukien and the Cheng [Qing] / Manchurian government was informed. With a large amount of Cheng [Qing] troops armed with many canons, the Shaolin temple in Fukien was destroyed and burned to the ground. Legends say there were only five survivors, known as the Five Ancestors(Ng Jo). These Five Ancestors are praised as the founders of many southern Kungfu styles and many secret societies. It is most likely that the Five Ancestors in the myths of Southern Chinese martial art families represent the five branches/lodges/flags of secret societies formed by the survivors of the destruction of the Southern Shaolin Temple.

A mysterious phenomenon happened after the burning of Shaolin temple in Fukien: a mysterious sword came out of the ground where the Shaolin temple used to stand. There were two inscriptions on the body of the sword: “Sang liong Jo Cu” that means “Two dragons fighting for the pearl.” On the tip of the sword, there were other inscriptions; “Bhiat Ceng Hok Beng” meaning “Overthrow Ceng (Qing), restore Beng (Ming)”. These sayings were later adapted by many secret societies as their motto and a reminder of Anti Ceng [ Qing] message.

Development of Wing Chun inside Black flags division of Secret society.
Eng Chun [Wing Chun] originated from the Southern Shaolin Temple, located in Fukien Province. The people of Fukien speak a dialect of Chinese called Fukienese. ‘Eng Chun Kun’ is the Fukienese pronunciation of Wing Chun Kuen. Most people are more familiar with the phrase Wing Chun, which is the Cantonese dialect.

The Black Flag communities had a small number of highly trained members. This was due to the main objective of the Black Flag division, which was to train high level kungfu skills master to deal with Cheng [Qing] highly-kungfu-skilled-officials and also traitors within the other Flag/Lodge of secret society. With these two primary missions, most of their organizations operated with extreme caution and more secretly than the Red Flags. Because of their extreme secretive identity, not many people in the Black Flag identities were known.

Among the rebellion organizations (anti Cheng [Qing] and Anti Imperialists), the Black Flag lodge/division is the least known group due primarily to its internal secrecy and the role which it played among the rebellion organizations. The role of Black Flag group was to handle Manchu officials, and traitors within the different Flag Groups. Secret among the Black Flag group was tantamount. Normally, individual members did not know one another. Kong Co (Ancestor) [ GGGM]. Tjia Fun Jiao was the last known Chief Instructor of the Black Flag lodge/division. He fled to Indonesia in 1907 and met the GGM King Yang.

HKB Eng Chun Kun (Black Flag Wing Chun Kuen) system arrived in Indonesia.
There was a Kungfu master in China named “Tjia Fun Jiao”. It was later revealed that he was the last known Chief Instructor of the black flag society in China. During a very chaotic situation where the number of traitors had grown, it was very difficult to identify who was the friend and enemy. Due to one incident in which Tjia Fun Jiao killed one of the government’ officials in public, his identity was almost revealed. In order to protect his society, he fled to Indonesia. He had chosen Indonesia because he heard the rumor that one of his cousins had settled down in Indonesia (at Malang city) and had an established Kungfu school at Malang city (note: there was no phone technology yet at that time).

After KongCo [GGGM] Tjia Fun Jiao arrived at Malang city, he couldn’t found his cousin. He had become a homeless person for weeks. During one incident when he was attacked with local native trouble makers, a number of people armed with axes, he took all of them down without injuring any of them. After this, he was found by Sujo [GGM] King Yang. After meeting with KongCo [GGGM] Tjia Fun Jiao, Sujo [GGM] King Yang took him home and took care of him as his own parent for almost two years. For two years, Sujo [GGM] still practiced martial arts while KongCo [GGGM] Tjia lived upstairs. During that two years time, KongCo [GGGM] Tjia was very impressed by Sujo’s [GGM] dedication in practicing Chinese martial arts. In 1909, KongCo [GGGM] also felt that he owed too much of a favor to Sujo [GGM] King Yang and he wanted to repay it by teaching Sujo [GGM] King Yang everything he knew about the Black Flag Engchun system. Because of the secrecy of this system, KongCo [GGGM] intiated GGM into the Black Flag blood ceremony/ritual. He also required Sujo [GGM] King Yang to take a blood oath before His master, Kong Co Tjia. If it is being broken, blood will come from 7 holes in the head and you would die. Sujo King Yang, the 2nd generation lineage holder of the Shaolin Black Flag Engchun, passed away in 1986 at 97 years old and left the precious Shaolin Treasure system to the chosen next successor; Tai Sukong [Senior Grandmaster] The Kang Hai and Sukong [GM] Tio.

Moreover, if you are a public domain website/community forum discussion owner/moderator, you are not allowed to allow anyone to posting or upload that the materials is taken from this website. No exception.

Question #2. What is the different between Wing Chun, HKB, HKB Eng Chun Pai, Hokien Eng Chun Kun, Hokien Eng Chun Kok Sut Cia and Shaolin HKB?
Answer :   HKB is Wing Chun[Eng Chun]. In the past, this style is taught by GGM Kwee King Yang in Indonesia [Between 1937 - 1987] under the banner of Hok Kian Eng Chun Kok Sut Cia / Hokian Eng Chun Kuntao [Fukien Wing Chun Kungfu Family].

Under leadership of Grandmaster Lin Xiang Fuk, in 2008, he used to spread this art under the banner of HKB Eng Chun Pai.
The name of HKB[Hek Ki Boen=Black Flag] came from the history background of Kwee King Yang’s Teacher; Cia Fun Tjiao, who was the last Chief Instructor of Black Flag Lodge. GM Lin decided to use the HKB Eng Chun in order to differentiate our version of Wing Chun with other ‘Cantonese’ Wing Chun.
Shaolin HKB is new program/system that will be launch in 2012, developed by Grandmaster Lin. And because of politics, we don’t want to be associated with Wing Chun as an organization.
In case you haven’t read the past official statement regarding this matter, please take your time to review this link.
http://www.hekkiboen.com/rise-and-rebirth-of-hkb/

Question #3. Is Shaolin HKB a “better/superior” style than other martial arts?
Answer :  There no better or even best style. It all depends on the practiconer personal training, experience and skill set. If Ferrari is one of the fastest car, but it doesn’t guarantee the driver to win the race. Just like a car, some is build for many different needs; luxury, racing, off-road, comfort, etc. This applies to Martial Arts as well. Shaolin HKB focuses on Maximum Efficiency through occupancy of time, becoming the space and explosive power as it’s feature.

Question #4. Is Shaolin HKB considered to be the ‘original Shaolin Wing Chun’ as compared to other lineage of Wing Chun?
Answer:  There are no such things as ‘more original’. There are many different lineages of Wing Chun coming from Souther Shaolin Temple. Shaolin HKB is just one of many lineages of Wing Chun.

Question #5. Where does the name of Shaolin HKB come from?
Answer:  Hek Ki Boen Eng Chun, in Fukkienese Dialect, is the system that was brought down to Indonesia by Kongco Tjia Fun Tjiao around 1907 who was known as the last chief instructor of Black Flag Lodge of the secret society (Overthrow Qing, Restore Ming).  In the past, this system had always been referred as Hokien Kuntao / Hokien Eng Chun Kun / Hokien Eng Chun Kun Kuntao(Kuntao=Way of Fist) [Fukien Wing Chun]. As a result of other lineage of ‘Cantonese’ Wing Chun who also claimed to be ‘Fukienese’ as their origin, around 2008, GM Council Tio, decided to adopt the name of HKB [Black Flag] Eng Chun based on our oral history of Tjia Fun Tjiao of the Black Flag Lodge, to differentiate our origin and identity from other lineage of cantonese wing chun. Shaolin HKB is the the realization of Sifu Lin’s training methods that have been perfected over the years.  These innovations in training have been proven by Sifu Lin in his training of students and development of instructors worldwide.  The Shaolin Hek Ki Boen system and its program has been piloted over the last years.  This program allows all students and Instructor Candidates to achieve basic skills within six months.  All videos and materials published thus far have shown only these basic skill sets.

Question #6. Is it a good idea to learn Shaolin HKB since you already learned other styles of Martial Arts?
Answer:  There is nothing wrong with being well rounded and knowing other type of Martial Art, as long as it is not conflicting. When it does, one has to go, because your body will not be able to adapt two kind of ‘personality’ naturally. Moreover, Learning kungfu is like life journey, you always want to gain more knowledges and skills. It is very important to be willing to empty your cup so that you can experience the taste of ‘HKB’. A good example of this would be our GGM King Yang, before he learned HKB from Tjia Fun Tjiao, he already learned from nine masters and mastered different variety of Kuntao such as Tai Zu Quan, Ho Yang Pai (Popularly known as Ngo Cho), However, he always had an open-minded as learning a tressure is once a lifetime opportunity that may not come twice. When he met Kongco Tjia Fun Tjiao around 1907, his open-minded, allowed him to discover what kind of tressure the Shaolin HKB was.

Question #7. If I decided to learn Shaolin HKB, is it a good idea to learn other style afterwards, to expand our horizon?
Answer: As long as it’s not conflicting and can bring benefits and pick up some experience, sure, why not. However, if it is conflicting in concept and principle, your body can only adapt one as a second nature. Moreover, it is recommended that you should not learn different style at the same time. Think it as you don’t want to drink tea and coffee in the same time at the same cup as this will prevent you from understanding the real taste of coffee (HKB) if it’s mixed with tea (Others). A good example of this would be our current leader of HKB, Suhu Lin Xiang Fuk, who start his HKB journey in 1985, also had the chance to learn other styles of Chinese Martial Arts, including some other Wing Chun lineage. Some of those other lineage even certified Suhu Lin as instructor level. But Suhu Lin, even at the very end, had chosen to stay and focus on Shaolin HKB. It is up to you which one you choose over another. It is what suits you. For Suhu Lin, Although he had the opportunity to expand his horizon by learning some other styles, such as Vikoga Wing Chun, Tai Zu(Ngo Cho), Tao Kun(Ancient Hsing Yi), Tai Chi, etc, in the end, he still found Shaolin HKB suits his body, mind and spirit, moreover, his body pala(opposite of body karma) was so deeply established in HKB since 1985.

Question #8. Why there are some other Wing Chun that trace their history differently compared to HKB?
Answer:  There are many legends about the origin of Eng Chun. However, until today, there are no supporting concrede evidence has ever been found. The only available sources have always been through the oral tradition which have been passed down by many forefathers of each lineage of Wing Chun. Depending which side of the story is written, it become the known history. With HKB, we also do not want to claim our history 100% true, as many of us was not there when the Southern Shaolin was burned down 400 years ago. In the past, many Kuntao Master in China, respected one another belief on the origin of a system. This shows their deep understand of Wing Chun by demonstrating respect and promote compassion as way of life. In the opposite of mastering deep understanding of a system would be like calling other history from different lineage as “his-story”. This poor character and behaviour, not only rejected by Martial Art Community(Shows how his/her sifu educate him/her, or worse, if it’s the Sifu him/herself), but also very un-acceptable within Chinese Community.

Question #9. Does Shaolin HKB bring health benefit?
Answer:  Shaolin HKB offers three tressures of Shaolin; Chan Buddhism Wisdom(Mind), Maximum Efficiency Self Defense system(Body) as well as Health through Khi Kang/Qi Gong(Spirit).  The broad study of these area will create a healty body, sharper mind and well-balance happy way of life.

Question #10. How long does it take to learn Shaolin HKB?
Answer: Given a dedicated student being taught by our committed and passionate teacher using good professional training program, any student can are challenge to progress very fast. However, it is not true that Eng Chun takes shorter time to master. HKB contains multiple deep layers of understanding that can only be done by direct experience to develope the HKB body pala (Opposite of karma). To learn it can be fast, but to master can take a lifetime.

Question #11. What is the different between Kuntao, Kungfu, Chuan Fa, Kok Sut(Guo Shu), Wushu?
Answer: Kuntao is fukiense word of  “Way of Fist” (Cantonese Kuen Do), Kungfu means Achievement of skill, Chuan Fa means Fist Method), Kok Sut(Guo Shu) means Country Art, Wushu means Martial Art. Those are the term used to describe Chinese Martial Arts a different times and different places in China. Moreover;
Kungfu: New terminology that was popularized around 1960, due to Bruce Lee effort of Chinese Martial Art introduction to the west.
Chuan Fa: Used in some part in China.
Kok Sut: Old terminology to describe Chinese Martial Art around 1900.
Wushu: Since it means Martial Art, technically this is the most correct term to describe Chinese Martial Art, but it currently refers as Chinese Martial Gymnastic.
Kuntao: Kun(Kuen)=Fist, tao(Do)=Way. This term came and used in Fujian. During 1800, there had been a big wave of immrigrant from Fujian into South East Asia. It is completely uneducated ignorance to think kuntao as Silat. Silat is S.E. Asia Martial Art. Kuntao does not refers to specific style, instead, it is just the Fukienese term to call every Chinese Martial Art regardless what style. Kuntao was the old term used, Just like word of  “Kungfu” use nowdays to describe Chinese Martial Art.

Question #12. Who is teaching Instructor Candidates?
Answer: All, Each and Every ICP training, due to skill assurance and quality control, CAN Only be done directly by SIfu Lin Xiang Fuk with no exception. Among the Instructor Candidates can get together to train on their own, However, Only GM Lin is the only one that teaches Instructor Candidates.

Question #13. Is there any other HKB Seminars that is not listed in this website?
Answer: Each and Every HKB Public seminar will always and only be listed in this HKB website. If it’s not listed here, it is not HKB Seminar. Any seminar that is not listed here, doesn’t represent HKB at all. Feel free to contact us for verification

Question #14. If I still have some question not listed here, what should I do?
Answer: By all mean, please address it immediately and directly by email to info {at} shaolinhkb{dot} com.

Sincerely,

HKB Staff
